Quilted walking sticks

I've been making this type of cane for quite a while, they're fun and entirely unique, rather like a patchwork quilt. Hence the name.

The shaft is spalted birch, the handle purpleheart with a walnut spline on this one.

Sometimes I'm not sure why I do things. For instance, here's an oak shaft with a great big knot just in the wrong spot. The knot is splinted with purpleheart and zebrawood, and there is a walnut spline across the grip.

Here's a zebrawood shaft with an ash and cherry grip, and the walnut spline to finish it off.
